Transformation

“If you begin to understand what you are without trying to change it, then what you are undergoes a transformation.”- Jiddu Krishnamurti

The quote above fit nicely with the image I selected for tonight’s post.  Butterflies, depending on what you read, and who you speak to, symbolize new life, or transformation.  My family and I have always believed this and have found that butterflies have a way of appearing when someone has passed away, or on special occasions.  If I remember correctly, my maternal grandmother started the tradition, if you will, of believing butterflies were symbolic.  When my father passed away, a butterfly or two flew around us at the burial site.  I don’t think it was chance that butterflies appeared on that April day when my father was being buried.  He believed butterflies did indeed represent new life and felt they were symbolic of the Christian faith and new life found in Christ. I think, as crazy as it may sound, that he sent those butterflies to us so that we would know he was at peace, living a new life, and that we too, should move forward, and celebrate him, not mourn him.

Needless to say, I am fascinated with butterflies and never see one without thinking of my father and/or grandmother.
