Paint the World

“Your thoughts, words and deeds are painting the world around you.”  – Jewel Diamond Taylor

I’ve had a little mental lapse recently.  Blogging hasn’t come as easy.  I’m not sure if it is that I can’t decide on which images to post – I have been shooting quite a bit – or if it is the fact that the creative side of my brain has left for a sabbatical.  Whatever the case, tonight I ran across this quote and remembered  I recently took a lot of shots of some lilies.  In my editing process I had changed some of the images to appear as watercolor paintings.  The link between the image and quote is…painting.

As you have most likely noticed, the editing that I do to my images is minimal.  I am a pretty traditional girl and tend to stick to the way things are when it comes to my photography style.  Keeping it real, keeping it simple.  Every now and again, though, I do force myself out of my box.  What do you think?  Do you like this style of editing?  It doesn’t work for all images as this editing process removes detail and tends to blow things out a bit.  I’ve seen digital paintings, I now need to research what constitutes digital paintings.  Is it something as simple as this?

Same image, two very different editing styles.  Which do you like best, for this image?

  1. I prefer the first one (watercolor style), I have a thing for graphic renderings, though I don’t tend to apply them to my own images. the original is lovely, too, but the rendering gives a certain extra to the image

hope blogging will come easier for you again – I always look forward to your posts 🙂
