Make a Wish

“Photo is a small voice, at best, but sometimes – just sometimes – one photograph or a group of them can lure our senses into awareness. Much depends upon the viewer; in some, photographs can summon enough emotion to be a catalyst to thought.”

In the Victorian Language of Flowers the Dandelion represents faithfulness, happiness, and love’s oracle.  To little children, a dandelion is a fuzzy flower with the purpose of wishing upon, or maybe, a pretty flower to give to Mommy, whom they love so much.    I thought the above quote was a nice compliment to the images of dandelions because the images of the dandelions summon emotions and thoughts of childhood memories and wishes made, and remind of the hope of wishes to come.  Because just sometimes, wishes do come true.

  1. What you said is exactly the reason I have always loved dandelions. Weeds — poo! I loved them as a child, making bouquets for my mom, or picking them when “fuzzy” for making fairies fly and wishes come true! Thanks for the memories! 🙂

    • I am sure you are correct Chris. Let’s many come true often. Some people need wishes more than others and it would be nice for their wishes to bring them a bit more happiness. Have a wonderful weekend. Robyn

  2. At last someone else recognises the importance of the Dandelion……..that is apart from the weed control manufacturers who love to depict there destruction. Lets have a big cheer for this humble but complex wild flower!

    • Happy to know you appreciated the post David. I spent hours digging them up out of my yard, but absolutely love to see fields of them in parks, etc. They truly do have beauty of their own. Have a wonderful weekend. Robyn

  3. I loved to do this as a kid, pick them and make the little seeds fly… your pics are a nice reminder how much fun this was 🙂

  4. Beautiful… I love the silvery look you achieve by turning the photos black & white. It’s the perfect mood for the silvery dandelions. Thanks so much for capturing and sharing these moments!

    • Thank you Karen, and you are ever so welcome. It is my pleasure to share the little joys I capture. They truly do abound all around us. Have a wonderful weekend. Robyn

  5. Gorgeous shots Robyn. I love dandelions ~ the promise they bring a child who is about to make that wish. And I also love anything that can “lure us into awareness” — so much reminded me of the concept I studied for my current post ‘ Mono No Aware’ ~ truly believe art in whatever form (in this case your beautiful photography) can be a conduit for this awakening — and that’s a beautiful thing indeed!! Brava — loved this post!! Blessings and Love, Robyn

    • Thank you ever so much Robyn. Your comment about luring us into awareness is something so pertinent to our daily lives that is so often times lost in the race against time. I appreciate your beautiful words and the time to comment. Hugs to you! R-
