Straight Out Of Camera (SOOC)
SS 1/60, f 4.0, ISO 1250
Same image with a texture layer added.
It is Spring, so life has been so very busy. Lacrosse and various activities with the kids take over my time and as a result I have very little time to focus on my blog or visit other blogs. Please excuse my absence and know I’ll be back in the swing of things in a couple of months. In the meantime, I would love to hear from you as to which image, of the two above, you prefer?

Thank you for sharing my post Shaun!
I prefer the second which is surprising because I generally gravitate to photos that are more vivid!
Interesting Elizabeth! You are definitely in the minority, but there is something that I really like about the second one too! Thanks for taking time to comment!
The first one !
Thanks for taking time to comment! I appreciate it!
For me, it’s definitely the top photograph. The more vivid red says that if the top of the stems aren’t blooming yet, they will be soon. The first photograph just “speaks to me” in stronger words.
Thank you for taking time to give me your thoughts Marylin! I always treasure your comments and opinions!
I prefer the first one. I love the color.
Lots of love
Patty
Thank you Patty! XO
SSOC by far for me. No contest. MM 🍀
Thanks for taking time to comment John! I appreciate it!
Robyn, pleased to provide opinion where I know it is accepted in the way it is meant 😃
😉
The first
Thanks for taking time to comment! XO
Original for me!
Thank you for taking time to comment Sue!
Straight Out Of Camera. and Lacrosse!
Thanks Steve…and yes, Lacrosse, and lots of it!!! Very fun!
For me, it is definitely the first one, Robyn. The stem detail is much more apparent with the clear red background. I really like this composition!
Thanks Lisa! I truly appreciate that!
Hi Robyn, for me, definitely the first one … the vibrance of the background highlights the depth of the subject.
There seems to be a consensus for the first one! Blessings, Robyn
I think they are both lovely in their own way however I love the vibrancy of the SOOC one.
Many thanks Suz!
Ah I love both. I love the beautiful crystal clear straight out of the camera but I adore the desaturated colors with the texture. Oh, so happy I don’t have to pick a favourite! I just couldn’t. Xo
Thank you Nita! You are so funny! It is sometimes so difficult to choose a favorite! Glad to know you like both images! I do too!
The first one is the best. But, you cannot use a texture layer on a texture without any texture to amplify.
Oups…
you cannot use a texture layer on a picture without any texture to amplify.
Hmmm, interesting comment Meho.
Really?
Meho – I suppose I never thought of it that way. Adding texture to an image without a lot of texture, or any texture, can be interesting and I didn’t realize there was a rule for not adding a texture layer if no texture was present. Everyone works in unique ways..that is art! Have a great weekend!
Wich software?
I used Photoshop for this image.
Happy busy time ahead Robyn! I love the clarity and stronger contrast of the first!
Thank you Patti!
Me too. 🙂
Smiles to you too Wander!
Both are beautiful but I think I prefer the first…love the vibrant color!
Thanks so much Susan! I always appreciate your opinions and comments. Have a wonderful evening!
sooc 🙂
Many thanks for taking time to comment Gail!
you asked and I complied 🙂
No question I go for the more vivid colors in the first. The second one just looks faded to me.
Thanks Gunta! Have a great weekend!
Original one for me… The colours make the image. 🙂
Thanks so much Richard!
i like the 1st!
Thank you!
Take the time off, my friend, take the time off. Blogging can actually be quite time consuming and quite hard work too, and you’ve the other things in your life, not least your family, to think about >>> do it, and enjoy it! I look forward to seeing you back in due course!
I can’t be of much help with the two images. I think they both have worthwhile attributes – but to me the big highlight bottom left is too bright, it keeps dragging my attention away from the stems and the smaller, less blazing highlight adjacent to them. I quite like the addition of the texture layer – but I can almost see a case for cropping the left margin of the frame in to immediately right of that blazing lower left highlight. Hope that’s useful!
Have a good break! Adrian
Oh Adrian thank you so very much for taking time to thoughtfully consider the images and for commenting. I always appreciate and treasure your comments and opinions. Have a wonderful weekend!
I think my eye is drawn to the first because of the colors
Thanks for taking time to comment Nora!
the first one has my preference. I love what more colors.the second I find what appear faded. greeting from Aart
Thank you Aart!
For me, the first one.
I like the first one Robyn. But you know how much saturation I like! lol
I do like the first one best.
I like the first one best, the vivid colors wins 🙂
I like the first one best, the crispness is what grabs me.
Robyn, definitely the first one for me.
Blessings ~ Wendy ❀
I really prefer the first image. I love the intensity of the red.
They both have their own beauty but I prefer the crispness and brightness of the first one! 🙂
Well, since you asked 🙂 The first one! The color is so clear and vivid!
I like them both. They seem so different to me, almost as if they don’t come from the same image. I like the vividness of the first, and the faded, aged appearance of the second.
Well, a little late but for me its also the first with its detail and contrast!
Greetings, Ron.
The first one….it just seems to be more “alive” 🙂
The first. 🙂 More colours, more contrast. 🙂
So many fabulous comments about the images, thank you all! There was an overwhelming response in favor of the first, more vibrant image. I truly appreciate the fact that so many people took the time to comment and share their opinions! Blessings, Robyn
I prefer the first but, more than the detail of either one, I like the concept of a picture of flowers without the flowers. It really brings out the beauty of the stems and the glass, which usually get overlooked. Really nice photographs!
Thanks for taking time to comment Trifocal! I appreciate your kind words and opinion! Enjoy the day!!!
