Thank You To All Who Served

Veterans

Just as the flag is tattered and worn

So are many, for an oath was sworn,

To serve a country,

It’s men and women,

Who often forget

The strife

Called life

Of the brave men and women

Who selflessly serve,

Who sacrifice,

Who love,

And lose,

In more ways than one,

Until their job is done,

And freedom has been

Solidified and won,

Not only for themselves

But for you, and for me,

And all who dream.

Sincere Desire

I am an intense longing to be held

I am a yearning for love

I am an appetite for a lingering kiss

I am an expression of wishes come true

I am an aspiration for success

I am a thirst for grace

I am a fancy for joy

I am a plea for peace

I am an appeal for integrity

I am a fascination for life

I am a passion for sincerity

I am sincere desire.

Golden Glow – The Last of Fall

Despite the the fact that we are nearing the middle of December and Christmas is just around the corner,  I am not quite ready to resign to the fact that Autumn has moved out of my grasp,  and with it, the array of colors that accompanied it this year.  Today I came across a few remaining images of golden yellow leaves that I captured while spending a bit of time shooting in a local cemetery on a dreary day in October.  Before the season is fully withdrawn, I thought I would post them. I hope you find the splendor in them that I did.

Now on to welcoming winter and  Christmas.

Canopy

A canopy of leaves,

What might it achieve?

Shelter from the sun’s harsh rays,

A cool breeze on warm autumn days,

A colorful screen through which to view the sky

As you lie beneath and quietly wonder why.

Autumn’s Flowers

Veteran’s Day

Today’s post is in honor of all of those men and women who have graciously fought for our freedoms, freedoms we take for granted every day.  Freedoms, we don’t often respect, or sometimes forget. Thank you to all of the heros and to the families that have sacrificed loved ones in the name of freedom and liberty.

Veterans

Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines,

Are there others, yes,

But these are the ones

We think of before the rest.

Men and women who

Serve our country

And fight to ensure

Our Freedoms are in bounty.

May we never forget their sacrifice

Amidst the chaos of our daily lives.

Honor them,

Thank them,

By being honorable citizens in our own right,

Lest what they lost, be not worth the fight.

Did they die in vain?

For what were they slain?

For love of country and rights they fight,

For the Flag and

Never to lag,

For where freedom is concerned,

There is always a lesson learned.

Citizens wake up,

And care to discern.

Nothing was free,

This land was not purchased on a buying spree.

Behold what is ours,

Respect what took hours of strife,

To give us the life,

We call the American dream,

Lest it be taken away,

By those who stray,

From the founding principles

That made our country what it was before today.

Do not neglect the responsibilities of citizenship or THEY will have died in vain.
