Blankets and More – Gift Ideas

I just had to share some really awesome gift ideas with you.  A friend of mine is a seamstress and we recently coordinated efforts on baby gifts.  The blankets you see in the pictures below are my photographs, which I had made into organic cotton fabric.  The coordinating burp clothes and the statin trim on the blankets were sown by my friend, Lauren.   These make fabulous baby gifts; functional, yet timeless, keepsakes.

Most of my images can be printed on various types of fabric including linen, cotton, organic cotton and much more.  Lauren and I have also combined efforts on making pillow covers, wine bags, and golf-tee and golf ball bags as well as canvas carry-all bags.  All of which are fabulous custom gifts to be used and enjoyed for years to come.

Sharing Christmas Traditions for the Joy of Others

“The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.” – Burton Hillis

“Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.” – Charles Schulz

“Christmas is love in action.  Every time we love, every time we give, it’s Christmas.” – Dale Evans

“Christmas is not a time or a season but a state of mind.  To cherish peace and good will, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.” – Calvin Coolidge

I chose the above quotes for this post because of the experience my family and I had today.  Every year at Christmas I try to coordinate a giving project for us to do as a family.  Something that will impact the thoughts and hearts of our children and to remind them of how blessed we are to have each other and the life we have together.  This year, our project involved little extra time and effort and produced big smiles and much gratitude.  We took a Christmas tradition from our home and shared it with those who do not have a home or family with which to share traditions.

Every year we as a family work together to make dozens upon dozens of Christmas cookies and candies.  It is a tradition.  Every hand is involved and we spread Christmas cheer to our neighbors and friends by giving them each a tray of the goodies that we only make once a year.  This year we took this a step farther.  We made a huge tray of cookies and delivered them to a homeless shelter for youth.  We paired the cookie tray with a bundle of gift cards, one for each child presently staying in the shelter.  We delivered the cookies and cards this afternoon and I have to say I have been an emotional wreck since.  Yes, my heart is filled with joy from the act of giving, but my heart is also breaking for these young kids who have no one to hug them, to love them, or to shower them with the gift of family togetherness or traditions this Christmas, or maybe even any Christmas.

I tell you this not to obtain praise for doing something nice, but to share the Christmas spirit and to share the idea so that others may do something as simple as sharing a homemade gift with someone who otherwise would not be so blessed.  To me, this is Christmas love in action.  Sharing the joy found in the true meaning of Christmas.

Custom Note Cards – Great Gift Idea

Mother’s Day is just around the corner.  Quickly following will be the end of the school year.  Both are events when gifts are typically purchased for those special people in our lives.  It is often difficult to select a gift when the “mothers” in our lives have everything they need/want or when we don’t know the teachers on a personal level.  Even in the trickiest of gift situations, custom note cards made by Robyn Graham Photography, can fill the void and be the perfect, unique, and personal gift.  Despite the convenience of sending notes through email, we all still have the need to send cards via regular mail.  In fact, I find it to be a very pleasant surprise when I receive a card in my mail box.  Just knowing someone took the time to write it out, address it, and send it.

So, this spring, relieve some shopping stress and order your set(s) of cards today.  Prices vary depending on the number of cards ordered.  To place an order, please send me a note via a comment on the blog and I’ll get back to you with a price, etc.  For those living in Buck’s County, you can find card packages at the Zen Den, located in the heart of Doylestown, while my photography is on exhibit through the beginning of May.  The link for the Zen Den is: http://zendencoffee.com/.

Card packages can be made gender specific, sports specific, theme specific, or a combination. All cards are blank inside for your own personal messages.

Not only are the cards beautiful and unique, they are printed on recycled or organic cotton paper which makes the quality high with no impact on the environment.

Customized Commissions

People often find purchasing gifts to be a major source of stress.  Pressure to find and deliver the perfect, most meaningful gift, can mount to high levels.  As a photographer, I am here to help alleviate that pressure and eliminate the stress related to gift buying.

Tonight’s blog features an image that I was recently commissioned to create.  A friend, who is also an interior designer, wanted to give her husband a special gift for his birthday and Christmas.  She also had a room in her home that she had recently redecorated.  In this room was a wall needing a little attention.  She came to me with an idea to capture some of her husband’s favorite wines and create art work for the newly decorated room.  To make the art work even more customized and special, we incorporated wine glasses used for their wedding toast, as well as other trinkets such as personal favorite wine bottle corks.  The final image selected (not shown) was printed on a 30 x 40 gallery wrap canvas and hung on the wall to complete the decorating project, and give her husband a gift to cherish.  A gift he loved!

This gift idea can be transferred to any object for any person for any occasion…..a favorite flower, a first pair of ballet slippers, a favorite pet, a hobby, a sport, books, tools, etc.   The list goes on and on.

The gift of customized photography is a timeless, priceless gift.
