A Day in the Fog

"Derive happiness in oneself from a good day's work, from illuminating the fog that surrounds us." -Henri Matisse

"I believe a lot of our lives are spent asleep, and what I've been trying to do is hold on to those moments when a little spark cuts through the fog and nudges you. " - Rufus Wainwright

Silence

“We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness.  God is the friend of silence.  See how nature – trees, flowers, grass – grow in silence;  see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence.  We need silence to be able to touch souls.” – Mother Teresa

Simplicity

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” – Leonardo Da Vinci

No Fanfare, Just the Simplicity of Fall in Reflection

Fall Embrace

“Embrace relational uncertainty. It’s called romance. Embrace spiritual uncertainty. It’s called mystery. Embrace occupational uncertainty. It’s called destiny. Embrace emotional uncertainty. It’s called joy. Embrace intellectual uncertainty. It’s called revelation.” – Mark Batterson

Nature’s Fall Embrace

I am never good about embracing uncertainty.  But, after reading the above quote I am going to work on it. It may not be all bad.

The Journey

As the seasons change,

senses ignite and

emotions sway,

just as leaves rustle

to the tune of the breeze,

as it ever so gently

brings the change of air,

with a chill,

that reminds of the need for warmth,

the warmth,

of the touch,

of the hand,

of the one,

who shares The Journey.

The Journey

A Splash of Color

A splash here,

A dash there,

Colors everywhere.

Bright and bold,

Brilliant if the truth be told.

Near and far,

Some Muted,

Some faded,

Some fallen to the ground,

Colors abound,

All around.

Manic Monday

Monday

Oh manic Monday,

It’s a crazy day this Monday.

Unsure if coming or going,

The to do lists are long, the activities aplenty;

School, dance, soccer, homework, cleaning, and dinner to plan too.

The evening charity benefit looming with the promise of a late night,

But warmth in knowing the cause is good and smiles will be bright.

The calm I find amongst the chaos when I look out my kitchen window.

“Then comes a Yellow Day. Wheeeeeeeeee. I am a busy, buzzy bee.” A quote from “My Many Colored Days” by Dr. Seuss

“42 Could Be”

Forty-two hours with 42 friends

who travel 42 miles that boast 42 smiles.

Forty-two ways to spend 42 days in which there may be

forty-two times to spare 42 dimes.

Forty-two years with only 42 tears would be a blessing

experienced by only 42 doves paired for 42 loves.

Forty-two hives representing the chaos of 42 lives influenced by

Forty-two verses read to overcome the heartache of 42 curses.

Forty-two pages representing the ages.

“42 Could Be”

As the Sun Rises….

As the sun rises….

Still hidden.

On the horizon.

Risen.

Already hiding, but leaving it’s footprint.

It’s risen and after a standing ovation, the audience is moving on.

I love how the colors change as the sun and clouds change the availability and angle of light, both in the sky and on land.  Even the sand looks warmer once the sun has risen and it’s rays have embraced the earth and sea.

Creating Oneself
