Unrequited Love I

Unrequited Love I

“Unrequited love has Winter for Spring ~

Spring presents herself, but Winter does not want to take leave.

He delivers an unwelcome snow that covers the blooms Spring has brought forth.

The blooms pout as the weight of the snow bears down on them

and prevents them from sharing their glory.”

In the “History and Language of Flowers”, one of the meanings of the daffodil is unrequited love.  The above poem was inspired by this meaning of the Daffodil.

To see another black and white photograph of a Daffodil covered with snow visit Monochromia for my Thursday post.

SS 1/60 f 5.6 ISO 400

Post processing: a slight curves adjustment in Photoshop CC.

Signs of Spring was shot in diffused light in between rain showers; – April showers bring May flowers -. I used a shallow depth of field to achieve a more abstract composition. I made the shadowed areas less in focus to give a more quizzical appearance of the flower.

Can you guess what the rain drops fell on? I’ll give you a hint – they are some of the first signs of Spring on the North East Coast and provide much-needed color to dull, early Spring landscapes.

To see this image in black and white visit Monochromia, a black and white photo blog I proudly, yet humbly, contribute to every Thursday.

I’d love to hear which you prefer – the monochromatic image or the color image.

“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.” – Albert Einstein

Imagination, Mystery and New Beginnings

New beginnings, like shadows, are Mysteries.

The heart knows not, what is to come.

The mind knows not, who will be along.

The soul knows not, what emotions will evolve.

Fear,

Courage,

Belief,

Strength,

Excitement,

and

Love.

The mystery of  a new beginning,

Will be a thrill,

  An exercise of will.

The past creates hesitation,

And so it is with anticipation

that

The heart will move from shadows

To accept the challenge with determination.

Imagination will drive

The will to begin and thrive.

A new beginning will take root

Away from the shadows of mystery

Which will don no refute.

A Cup of New Beginnings

The cup

Of life,

Stories told of

Love and strife.

All things

Pass through

And welcome,

Life anew.

The saucer

Of life,

Embracing the cup

Of love and strife.

A balancing act

To engage the fact

That all things past

One day

Leave way

to

New beginnings

Which ebb and sway

For life anew.

A Cup of New Beginnings

An additional thought for the day:

He has made everything beautiful in its time.  He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil – this is the gift of God.  I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it.  God does it so that men will revere him.  Ecclesiastes 3:11-14
