“Friends are like windows through which you see out into the world and back into yourself… If you don’t have friends you see much less than you otherwise might.”- Merle Shain

Look closely at the reflection in the window.  It almost looks like it could be a face…but, it is a Coke machine.

Joyous Friendship

A yellow rose

To signify

True friendship

Of joyous

Bound.

Sure as

Light shines

Upon the petals

Glory is

Found

Within

A friendship

 Built on

Solid ground.

It is

Not worth

A pound,

If not

Gowned in

Trust and

Love that

Are proclaimed

Aloud.

So my

Friend,

Of

Joyous bound,

Let’s stick

Together

As the

World goes

’round.

Some days

We feel as if

Life is full

of downs,

But,

Our friendship

Will abound,

Through faith

In each

Other

That

Cannot be

Drowned.

A Friend in the Unique

Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born. – Anais Nin

Have you ever had a friendship with a person that you never expected to become friends with?  Friendships can be found when least expected.  Sometimes those least like us in appearance are the most cherished and dearest at heart.  Sometimes those totally different from the “norm” we surround ourselves with bring out the best in us.  When the unique enter your lives, let them in to open up your world.

Welcome the unique.

A little uniqueness can go a long way toward making us a better person.  Embrace the possibilities in the unique.

Sometimes the one that is least like us is the one most like us at heart.

What Counts?

“Some people think only intellect counts: knowing how to solve problems, knowing how to get by, knowing how to identify an advantage and seize it.  But the functions of intellect are insufficient without courage, love, friendship, compassion, and empathy.” – Dean Koontz
