This image was taken last week during a trip to Grand Cayman Island. I found the flower on the ground when visiting the Botanical Garden and placed it on a fence railing to photograph it. I am not quite sure what the name of this flower is, but am thinking it must be in either the anemone or daisy families.
The image above was part of my introductory post at a new blog titled Monocromia. The blog was initiated by my friend Joe, from The Visual Chronicle. Joe invited several photographers from around the world to be part of his initiative to start a black and white only photography blog. Each day of the week a different photographer will be posting a black and white image. My post was the third post on the new blog and after just three posts, the blog is doing quite well with a gaining number of followers. For the black and white enthusiasts, be sure to stop by Monochromia and see the beautiful work by many talented artists. In addition, another blog well worth visiting for those who love black and white photography is Leanne Cole’s Monochromatic Madness. Every Tuesday Leanne posts black and white images by various photographers. Always incredible talent to be seen.
My intention is to not always duplicate my posts on Monochromia and here, but to have different images shared on the different sites. Time will be the ultimate deciding factor, however. I also hope to send more images over to Leanne for inclusion in her Monochrome Madness series. We’ll see how successful I am…with the preparations for the studio opening in September and the kids home for summer my time is proving to be limited.
