Happy Mother’s Day to all of the women in my life who have served as a mother figure, who have inspired me, who have encouraged me, who have supported me, and who have helped me become the woman I am today. I appreciate your sacrifices of love, of time and of self, for me, as well as, for all people in your lives.

The Ride of Love
The Tulip series is getting a little long so I thought I would try something different tonight and post multiple images. Yes, all are in black and white, this too is a change. Although these images were lovely in color, they moved me in black and white. I would love to hear your thoughts. Do you like them? Which do you like best?
Today’s image is of the Nativity in our church. I think it is the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. The detail and craftsmanship is amazing. You don’t have to look close, however, to notice that the manger, the bed of straw, is empty. This is only temporary though. In a matter of hours, the Christ child will be placed in the manger. The children wait anxiously for this. They love to see the baby Jesus lying in the manger. The miracle of the original Christmas story touches the hearts of the young and old alike.
Unfortunately, during the Christmas season the primary focus is on the magical appearance of Santa Clause and the gifts under the tree. But the real reason for Christmas is that little baby whose coming we anxiously await. The true miracle. The miracle of love and joy. The miracle of grace. May you experience the true joy of the season. The love, peace and grace that can be found in the Christ child.

My 89 year old grandmother and my daughter. Generations of blessings.
The tragedy that took place Friday has left me thinking more and more about how dear my family is to me. I have always known that of course and I have never intentionally taken them for granted, but when life is flying by, I don’t take time to consider how blessed I am as often as I should. I think most of the world today is the same. Everyone I talk to is SO busy.
Especially during this Christmas season, I hope that all people who are blessed with family will take the time to love them, to reach out and hug them, hold their hand, and let them know how strong your love for them is. Love is an everlasting bond and when thinking about Christmas, it is my prayer that all remember that love is at the heart of the meaning of this ever so special holiday. The first gift of love came from God above, let’s treasure it, and share it.
Love flows from generation to generation. No one is too old or too young to need to know they are loved.
