“We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass – grow in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence. We need silence to be able to touch souls.” – Mother Teresa
“It’s spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want – oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!” – Mark Twain
Spring fever. I have always had a “feeling” as Winter leaves and Spring approaches. I suppose it is a feeling of hope, renewal, joy, a freshness of heart. I, like Mark Twain, cannot pin point it, but it’s there. Just a feeling…..and a desire. Maybe the desire is for renewal, for change, for something happy after the dark days of winter. The warm sun on my face, the flowers everywhere I look, the vibrant green grass, people around the neighborhood making appearances after being inside all winter, the buds on the trees – all things that make me smile. Perhaps that is the ache Twain speaks of – the ultimate desire for beauty, for happy people, for friends all around, for fresh smiles.
The blooms on the pear tree made me smile today. I love the white flowers and the way they invite one to step up close and breath them in.
