No False Pretenses

In the Victorian Era flowers had meanings.  People employed flowers as a method of communication, they had their own language. Flowers were used to communicate feelings and thoughts.  The selection and gifting of flowers were done with the intent of sending a message.

Tonight’s image is a Cockscomb that I photographed when visiting a wildflower garden at the orchard yesterday.  The definition of Cockscomb is affectation, which means a false appearance or assumption of a state, quality, or manner.  I think the quote above is a nice representation of the word affectation.
