There is a group on Instagram that has daily theme inspirations: @9Vaga_dailytheme9. This week color was the theme with each day being a different color.  Wednesday was yellow and Thursday was green.   The images above are a few that I posted on my Instagram page: @robyngrahamphotography.  I hope you enjoy the images. I had fun playing with light and shadow.

And, if you are on Instagram, please follow me…I post images almost every day…Much more frequently than I get to blog!

Intellect

“One learns through the heart, not the eyes or the intellect.” – Mark Twain

Intellect - 1. The power of the mind by which one knows or understands; 2. A particular mind or intelligence, esp. of a high order; 3. A person possessing a great intellectual capacity.

Did you know the color yellow represents intellect?

Blessings to all for a wonderful week of learning through the heart.

Manic Monday

Monday

Oh manic Monday,

It’s a crazy day this Monday.

Unsure if coming or going,

The to do lists are long, the activities aplenty;

School, dance, soccer, homework, cleaning, and dinner to plan too.

The evening charity benefit looming with the promise of a late night,

But warmth in knowing the cause is good and smiles will be bright.

The calm I find amongst the chaos when I look out my kitchen window.

“Then comes a Yellow Day. Wheeeeeeeeee. I am a busy, buzzy bee.” A quote from “My Many Colored Days” by Dr. Seuss

Sunflower Power

You’ve all seen the silly smiley faces cut into sunflowers, yes?  Or the singing smiley faced sunflower, how about that one?  Well, as ridiculous as I think they are, and I would never spend a penny on one of them, there is something to be said for them.  Sunflowers do have the power to make a person smile.  The warm glow of the yellow petals warms the heart.  Once the heart is warm, a smile is automatic.  If you’ve ever driven by a field of sunflowers, you know exactly what I am talking about.  Do you agree?

Dahlia’s at Dinner

As the kids and I were eating dinner on the porch this evening I noticed the gorgeous light hitting the yellow Dahlias in the pot next to the table.  I couldn’t keep such beauty to myself, so of course, I ran to get my camera.  I hope you enjoy the Dahlias as much as I have this evening.

With so much side lighting exposure was a little tricky, but I love the accent of the slightly overexposed petals and the deeper yellow/orange in the center.

Same exposure challenge here, but different flower. It works, still beautiful.

Standing at attention…yet the petals look so soft and delicate.

And of course I cannot present you with flowers without offering one in black and white. I love the vibrancy and energy of flowers in color, but I find there is also something very timeless in black and white flowers. In my opinion, black and white flowers have a unique way of moving the inner being.
