Desolation

Do you remember when you were a kid and you won a prize for something?  Remember the excitement?  Well, I am having one of those moments.  I returned home this evening after going to see “The Help”, which was very good, to find an email saying that I had won an honorable mention for one of my photographs.  I didn’t win the contest, but hey, in my book, recognition is recognition.  Of course I am not writing this blog to brag.  I am simply writing to share the image with you.  It is one of my favorite images.  It speaks to me.  It reminds me of the times in life when things just don’t seem like they will ever get better, but then, somehow, after much prayer, hard work, and perseverance, things turn around, are good again, and life goes on.  This truck probably had a lot of life in it while it was cared for.  Our lives are like that too, in a way.  As long as we have people surrounding us, loving us, smiling at us, and supporting us we have life.  Our happiness in that life depends on how we accept what others offer, how we face our challenges, and the attitude we decide to have when moments of desolation, overwhelming challenge, or frustration come our way.

Desolation
